Spoke with the state licensing board this morning, and if they are licensed they have to adhere to the minimum state requirements. One of those being that an open door policy be in place. BOO-YA!

Also any policy changes have to be given to the parents in writing. I have to get this pic I took of the letter on the door off my phone and emailed to the area supervisor at the licensing board.

Well, they are not happy that they cannot get around this one. However, they say since I'm up there everyday that I am required to have a background check and FBI fingerprinting done. Even though I'm not a volunteer or employee.

Works for me. I was planning on getting my CHL and this has to be done anyways.

I'm at my daughter's daycare every day and they don't require me to... strange.

Did you tell them if they were doing their job you wouldn't have to be up there everyday except to get your kid?

Also, ask them who's buying the background check... them?

I would call the state to verify...you arent an employee or volunteer. They cannot mandate you getting this done. Sounds like they are trying to make your life difficult as well.

jumping johave witness, just pull the kid out and suffer the bitching from your ex. It is way easier to handle than paying someone to try and insult you and make your life a living hell. At least it is free from your ex.

It's all they have left that they can ask me to do. I have to sign in and out now as well. I have no issue with that. There was hesitation to provide me with a copy of the new policies as well.

I'll be sending a copy to the licensing board as well as imfroming them of their expected requirements of me to visit my daughter.

I take it the entry on December 29th is yours? Sounds like basically the same thing you have said in here. I applaud you for taking the time to leave a review on great schools, although it's funny that there was only 1 review before you posted yours, and then there were 2 "very positive" reviews, both on the same day, just 2 weeks after.

I'm willing to wager that those reviews were posted by employees. They are offered free daycare as a "perk". I had to wait for by background check longer then expected since it was 10 working days initially. After 14 working days I was concerned and called but she was unavailable and I figured complaining would be a jerk move especially when there was no charge and no real inconvenience.

She emailed me that she had just seen my e-mail in her spam folder and had it completed that day. There was nothing there as I was expecting and probably much to the chagrin of the daycare directors. I'll be asking the woman to forward my background check to the daycare director's email.

I rely heavily on the DFPS site. I don't mind paperwork issues. But any safety/neglect complaints is an automatic reject. That's why I spend a little more for private schools. My son went to Primrose all last year and it was great! It did not feel like a daycare at all. Towards the end, they changed teachers and they seemed more like daycare people than teachers. For a while, they didn't even know his name. So, I took him out. I will be moving him to La Petite in a few weeks. He's been to a few daycares and I just hate them. But again, private school is a hell of a lot more expensive than daycare. I will be paying $650/month for 3 days/week. But it's worth it.
