This was posted on the AAF site on the D-Day remembrance.. Nice to see that people over there still appreciate the effort and the sacrifices made... Posted by Dennis en Gerda

    "We live in the Netherlands.
Reading this topic I have to say something about WWII.
We as a family have adopted 12 soldiers who lost their lives during their fight for our freedom, they and all the other heroes payed a price for the freedom in which we are living today.
We have 2 young daughters and we take them with us to the cemeteries when we are honouring the fallen heroes and the oldest is always asking questions about why we do this and what happened then?
We try to tell her as much as possible, but there is a important lesson in her questions, in these days at the school they don't talk so much anymore about WWII and what happened than and what all these heroes have done for us. It's a shame that a lot of young people doesn't know what WWII means and why all those white crosses means at the War Cemeteries.
I and my family can't thank the heroes enough for what they have done for us. Thats why we have adopted the heroes of WWII, to say thanks to them and their families and that they know that somebody is taken care of the grave of their familymember."
