  • Hey Doc

I have a really slight ache in my elbow that goes down into my hand. But the pain in my hand is very intence. Feels like someone is shoving a ice pick in them. Most of the pain is in the joints but the tips of my fingers gets the same pain from time to time. Last week my thumb felt like it was hit with a hammer on the thumb nail. WTH???

Sounds like you have used the ole "stranger" method one too many times. Might want to get that checked out.

      Diagnosis: Over-jerking.

      Prognosis: Jerk less.

My office lady will send you the bill.

By the diagram you provided, I think thats it. The most pain is in the ring finger on my right hand. Looks like the main nerve runs right up that sucker.

Thank ya Dave. Has had me worried. I deal better with things when I have a good feeling of whats going on.

No problem...but you may want to send Tim a PM to be certain that he agrees with my assessment.

Lol, not a chance. You have been spot on from day one. Truly one of the smartest Dr's I have known and I completely trust you. You helped me and my mom through her cancer when the Dr's here had their heads up their ass's. Cant thank you enough.

<----- Has the same problem from throwing a few too many breaking balls once upon a time. Shoulder impingement doesn't help it either.

I guess I'm screwed. I too was a starting pitcher all the way through Pony League and then signed on as a painter. I have been told many times to look foward to this, that it was coming. I just didnt know that there would be so much pain involved.

If it's bothering you significantly now, then inflammation is probably up. You can get a script for mobic that will help that. It may sound odd, but physical therapy and retraining your arm how it should work will help tons. I still throw quite a bit since I'm coaching both of my boys' teams, but my pain is limited to just muscle soreness now. Granted I'm not throwing super hard, but the reps are high. I had to retrain my arm how to work though through therapy and strengthen it.

I completely agree with this statement.
I don't put much trust into Dr's and their opinions, but Dr. Dave is someone that has always been 100% spot on!
