I'll never forget John telling me how he stopped a runaway Cummins at work.
One of their armored trucks (P-pump 5.9) had the governor get stuck and basically went into a runaway condition. The fuel shutof solenoid did nothing so it kept running. Well the driver decided that he'd just limp it the last couple miles back to the shop and let someone else deal with it (just imagine how fucked the clutch was after that drive). He pulled in with that engine screaming, and John, realizing that the engine was toast at that point did the only thing he could think of to kill it.
Pop the hood and start bashing the 6 fuel lines on the pump with a sledgehammer until they had pinched or broken enough to stop fueling.
Greatness.
