  • Where do you Advertise "for Hire"

We have been getting really busy and thought that maybe we need to start looking for some help. Where do you advertise? I mean, do people still look in the paper these days when they need a job?

I don't know what business you are in but I frequently hang a help wanted flyer at the state parole offices in Dallas and Garland. You can weed out the dead beats really quickly just by looking at the person and finding out what they went to prison for. Talking to their parole office also helps to refine your search.
Magnus, I am your father. You need to ask your mother about a man named Calvin Klein.

way back when, we hired painters and mud slingers by talking to paint vendors. Many times they know of good guys that dont have the ability to advertise or bid jobs, and are looking to work for someone, etc.

For that type of work you should be able to find someone off of craigslist, no reason to spend money for a paper, monster etc.

Craigslist cost money to post an ad for jobs. And in my experience, the people have been less than desirable sometimes. In one instance, a guy called that had only been out of prison for a few weeks. He volunteered the info that he had been down for 15 years for murder and was looking for a new start. Since he didn't have a current drivers license for the last 3 years, he is not insurable through my commercial policy.

I forgot they charge in the metro areas, it is free to post jobs in the smaller towns.
