RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE!!!!
There's so many justifiable things out there that people do to one another on a daily basis to be bitter about. I don't see someone's size being one of those reasons. Especially enough so to single them out in my head, or in a crowd, or online.Originally posted by VertnutI'd run my junk through a waffle iron, if it makes you more "comfortable". LOL!

Your right, most the time I'll find a way vs big guy. However once a guy Adams size has a few tricks(which I'm sure he does by now) it starts to get real tough. I feel a huge change right around 190 lbs, at that size I start to have to work alot harder. When I started bjj I was well over 2 bills, at the time my view was the same as yours. Once you do drop the pounds you'll see what I'm talking about. It makes a huge difference in the pressure you give and get during a roll.
I'll side with you on the "Drop to my weight" thing. For anyone who's over 200 and separated by one weight class to say that really speaks volumes. I've been smoked by bigger guys and I've returned the favor to smaller. In the end you should look for ways to improve and fix what's wrong, not make excuses.
Originally posted by Steve View PostI can agree with your statement at the highest levels of BJJ, sure. But at the level WE are at, MYSELF personally, do not struggle with big guys as much.
You're an advanced blue, I can understand you struggling abit with someone like Adam because of strength difference, but I would think you'd still be able to work through it with being more advanced in technique. If it's a street fight with a random monster with no training, it's even easier.
I dunno, maybe I've got it twisted. I'm not a small guy like you, but at my natural weight (200lbs), I'm not a "big" guy either. I'm only 5'8 or so. Once I get my weight down, Nate will be a bigger guy then I am. I don't see why at his size (he's pretty strong too, he doesn't give himself enough credit) I don't see why he would be complaining about weight differences. Anyone he gets into a fight with on the street, is going to be bigger than him, it's something he needs to learn to deal with, otherwise BJJ isn't going to help him at all.
I certainly don't think Drysdale is a "big" guy either, maybe I've just been rolling with huge monsters for too long now. lol. I'll find out soon when I go out there in Febuary to see my brother. While I'm there I'm planning a couple of drop in's and a private with him.
The guy I fought at NAGA, that was a freak accident. Even though he was 6'3 @ 369lbs lol, had I not hurt my knee I could have handled him still I think. Hurting my knee has actually turned out to be a blessing in disguise because it's really made me concentrate on very detailed technique work and working my guard.
JMO's is all. Thanks for joining the conversation finally though. I do enjoy them alot with other BJJ guys.

False. It is extremely DIFFICULT to gain weight, but can be accomplished. The answer lies within and is up to me to make the change - same applies for fatties, smokers, drinkers, people with debt and people with no drive to be anything.
I don't have much empathy for people who make excuses for themselves.
When I was working out, I ate ATLEAST 4,500 calories a day, if not more. It took me almost a whole year of eating that way and busting ass in the gym to put on 30 lbs.
People who want change need to look within for the answer and stop blaming genetics, people around them, and any other excuse under the sun.Last edited by 347Mike; 12-22-2010, 10:51 AM.Originally posted by Cmarsh93zDon't Fuck with DFWmustangs...the most powerfull gang I have ever been a member of.

I guess I just don't get it, why does someone being fat bother you. As long as they aren't half in my seat on a plan or event I really don't care. They aren't bothering me so I am not going to bother them. Its like people not liking someone cause they are a different race.
Next you will say how you hate midgets. Can't stand the site of them. Believe me I see midgets every second and I am ok with it.
Why is tolerance so hard????
