Better? I AM in better health.
Nothing different than appearance? There's more than just appearances. I could give a litany of things that are different, just on health alone. Factual base.
Lets not get stuck on the who's a better person on the inside (in the morals/personality). This isn't about skin color. It isn't about where they were born. This about the personal choices THEY made to be where they are physical condition. And that choice affects me, by...space...or by wallet, then I will form a strong opinion about it.
Now, to your point of disgusted looks and treatment, I will say that's over the line. Heck, I've corrected my kids from pointing and saying things aloud. However, I am going point out it is NOT the way to live (privately to them). That is not a lifestyle I support in any way.
As far as being better than others, to elaborate further... If you feel you have the right to shit on someone because of their appearance, to me, that is an act of putting yourself above another, hence thinking you're better than them. I, in no way, meant the differences internally healthwise. They're obviously not a pilar of health if they're obese. I simply meant thinking of yourself to be somehow more pure of heart and soul because you have less junk in your trunk is fucking ridiculous.Originally posted by VertnutI'd run my junk through a waffle iron, if it makes you more "comfortable". I had a job where I had to help a rather large guy get around for a while. He was about 5' 6" tops, and literally weighed literally 520lbs. Not only did his family have him on a liquid diet per doctors orders, the company that we worked for offered to pay for gastric bypass surgery for him, because he had been with the company for so long. He declined the surgery and constantly had people pick him up McDonalds and other fast food when they would go out on their lunch, including me. I wasn't gonna tell him no, because he was my boss. To me, my job was more important than his health. That was about 5 years ago, and I'm not sure what the guy is up to or if he's even still alive, but the last I heard about him was 2 years ago and he was over 600lbs. So I've personally been affected by a guy that was morbidly obese and had no intentions of doing anything about it.
Also, when I see somebody get out of their car, that's parked in a handicapped spot because they're overweight, or use a little electric cart at the grocery store because they're overweight, it pisses me off. There are 80 year old women who could've used that handicapped spot or electric cart.
So yeah, I've lost a little respect for those people. Respect has to be earned.
It was going to be a "make fun of fat people because I saw someone at a buffet last night" thread. I just so happen to NOT partake in belittling anyone undeserving.
I get equally pissed when I see someone roll out of their car in a handicap spot just to walk into a store and sit down into an electric cart. That's pure bullshit and those particular people should be shot. They are the exception to the rule. I won't go around treating everyone shitty because a select few that fall into their stature category are dicks.
I single out the assholes and bash away accordingly, I don't ever bulk people into a general category to bitch about.Originally posted by VertnutI'd run my junk through a waffle iron, if it makes you more "comfortable". LOL!

Without all the in depth bs that's been shared back and forth, going back to the thread title... it's pretty cut and dry as to how callous this was intended to be.

Sad thing is, the older you get the harder it is to stay somewhat slim. I know I am not going to exercise like i use to. So the only other thing to do is diet. It sucks, but feeling fucking miserable and about passing out when trying to tie your shoes is bad too.
I have a different attitude towards really fat people because i am having to work hard at watching what I eat. Sure it's no fun, but it is a hell of a lot better than me weighing 260 lbs like I use to. No one can feel good about themselves (truly)and be grossly over weight.
As for the picture with the two sea cows above, I would throw the fuck up on them. It is about self control. I don't always have it, but I work hard to get it back.

This thread has me scratching my head.
EVERYONE besides the Dalai Lama, Gandhi and Mama Theresa treats people differently to a certain extent based on the characteristics that they show you. For those of you who are perfect people, and love everyone, I applaud you.
For the people who want to get butt-hurt about this conversation, just change "fat people" with smokers, drunks, drug addicts and then ask yourself whether or not you would treat someone the same as another person who does not share those vices.
It's pretty simple. We choose to be overweight, or we choose not to be. We choose to smoke, drink, drive fast cars, play the lottery, and do thousands of other things that have negative consequences. People are allowed to judge you based on your actions, because unless they know you personally, that's all they can reasonably judge you on!
