Seriously though it varies a little bit, but the dish receiver has a setup screen that tells you which satellite you are pointing to.

If the mast is still vertical, then most likely you just need the azimuth adjust(rotation on the mast). If you put the receiver on the signal screen, it normally beeps. the beeps vary as the signal increases/decreases. In the past, I've just turned up the volume to where I can hear it at the dish and tuned it by ear. Or have someone stand in the TV room with a phone or walkie talkie and report the signal quality to you as you do it.

Hmmm I see if I could get to that screen. It keeps trying to self fix and look fir a signal. As it does that I can't do crap .

This is all assuming your dish didn't get hit by a large object, like this one did.

Brother seem to think it was facing north but no way it was turned around 180 and the mounts not be damaged. Ill get up there tomorrow to see what I can see

The only way it would have faced north is if you are in the southern hemisphere - TX isn't.

The commercial satellites in geosynchronous orbit are basically circling the equator. I promise - I've been working on VSAT systems for a while.

Found the screen for signal test. But didn't get a tone.

She told me on the phone that it was hit by a tree during the storms earlier this week. Makes for an easy repair though - no guess work.
