It will accomplish plenty, of course it will have nothing to do with health or soft drinks. In the area of government intrusion into privacy and business, it is a fucking milestone. I can't wait to see what they try to pull off next.

And people wonder why jobs move overseas, it is to get away from stupid bullshit like this.

It's total bullshit, and it won't result in less fat people.

That being said, it is pretty ludicrous the size of some of those drinks.
Trans fats are another item suited for banishment for health reasons, but I would much rather see a consumer educate themselves on what unhealthy eating is and decide for themselves what they will or will not eat.

The only thing I'd like to see is a little bit more regulation on the quality of ingredients going into food. Instead of all of the HFSC/partially hydrogenated oils, etc. How about some normal, unmodified ingredients?

I should dig up my posts on the old board when the smoking ban took place in NYC, Dallas, and Fort Worth. I've never smoked a cigarette in my life but it's purely un-American to tell someone else they can't. I was 100% certain that this is the kind of thing that would come out of it.

So what's next? Banning roller coasters because of possible undiagnosed heart conditions? Banning cologne/perfume because of other people's allergy sensitivities? Banning polyester because of carcinogens?

I think it's now official. This is not the country that I believe in. I don't even know what it is anymore. When it comes to government, less really is more and this kind of overbearing, nanny state is sickening.

Polyester should be banned just on general fashion principles, Danny.

Our founding fathers would facepalm. This is what we have become, America. We're so ignorant to think you can use legislation to control a man's appetite. There are numerous quotes from past leaders and great American minds I could throw in here, but it's too late for any kind of enlightenment. The ship is already taking on water, at least 2/3 of our fellow shipmates will make great flotation devices!

To be fair, the mindset behind this type of legislation arrived on a boat in 1620.

Just like smoking, it should be the business's choice.

lol @ all of the correlations with smoking bans...

2nd hand smoke is a real issue. Tobacco smoke is fucking nasty.

But if somebody wants to drink a 64oz sugar soda? let 'em... if you limit the size, they're just going to buy more of them.
