Keep your paid off car, that's the sensible thing to do.

A few things, and I get the idea that you probably already know this stuff.
1. You acknowledge that you have a perfectly good and paid-for car.
2. You're lusting after a different car and it appears you are open to the probability that the car you wish you had is only better in the subjective arena of aesthetics. (looks prettier)
3. You have the capacity to love an 80's shitbox F body.
My suggestion to you is to pay attention to the things that are good about your car. (paid-for, loaded with options, gets compliments and it's probably a "better car" from a reliability standpoint.) Also, consider the fact that Challengers are pretty on the outside, but the interior is far from class-leading and it's a BIG, FAT car compared to the Mustang. Very likely, the Mustang is more fun and easier to drive.
If you take all the wisdom in this post and blow it off because the Challenger is: "wow that car is hot", you're being a dumb, emotional girl.

Have you ever been inside of them? While, I'm not a huge fan of the cars in general, I can see the appeal of the looks.........until you sit down in one and see how crappy and cheap the interior is. Seriously, I think my '87 Mustang had better interior quality. I wouldn't be able to drive a car and be proud of it spending all my time looking and thinking about how shitty my view of the car is while driving it."Any dog under 50lbs is a cat and cats are pointless." - Ron Swanson

I would never buy a dodge product, but I think they're alright. I can see the appeal of the badge, and it represents pretty well. I don't think it's really a driver's car, more enthusiast I think.
Is it me or do the tires look dinky under that huge ass??? I need to see one with some 315's or something.
I do understand the passion in what I drive. I like a v8, 6 gears, hard cable clutch, and boost. I'm waiting for a 2013 return of the SVT Cobra lol!

As for the Challenger, yeah it's a decent car. I'm still scared of anything that had Daimler engineering involved with it though, they tend to take away reliability while making things harder to work on and infinitely more expensive.
Now I'll propose an even better option. If you like the Challenger so much consider buying a classic. There are loads of them available as nice drivers for $15-20k. Classic Mopars are not going to lose value, ever. You have a trusted mechanic and you work with at least one Mopar nut (Angela). It's not like you don't know where to get the needed parts for one either! Then you can keep the Mustang as well.

I rented a V6 Challenger while in California. It was gutless, the interior looked like a Charger's interior, and it felt like it was a lane-and-a-half wide on most roads. Definitely not impressed.
Coincidently, I drove this Challenger to a local Ford dealer to test drive a 2011 Mustang GT, so I literally drove them back-to-back. Needless to say, the Mustang won the comparison hands-down.- Darrell
