  • Believe In Dinosaurs?

Was swimming with a few friends today and my buddy's girl said she doesn't believe in dinosaurs.

I asked what she thought about all the fossils and she said they were man made. WTF?

    Anyone not believe in them?

It suprises me the amount of stupidity that runs rampant amoung our youth. A few weeks back my 'brightest' daughter told me that flu shots cause retardation.

I guess shes right, ive had the family doctor give them to her since she was a kid.

My sister's x-husband dropped that bomb on us one day while they were still married. I was convinced that he was just joking for the first couple hours of that conversation.

I'm sure she was referring to that woman that walked all messed up (forgot the name of disease) but could run fine like anyone else due to a flu shot.

Sometimes I just want to slap creationist. They hold Genesis like it is the most important thing in the Bible when they need to be focusing quite a bit further down. It also doesn't help when they push forward a lie to promote their beliefs. Doing so just causes others to doubt anything they have to say. The carbon dating argument is one such example.

The Bible is not in conflict with evolution, the creation of our world, or even the universe. How could God ever hope to teach the writer about the creation of the universe when the that observer didn't understand the concepts of math that we teach to 6th graders today. IMO, God didn't bother. God showed him through stories or dreams and let the writer interpret them. It isn't that much different than Christ teaching through parables. You have to speak down to the level of your audiences understanding.

The main point of the Genesis story of creation is that God created everything and gave this world to us. He also gave us a close personal relationship with him and we threw it all away.

IMO, while Science doesn't teach us about God, it sure as hell teaches us about his handiwork. We are denying that work when we deny science.

My father is the same way. He's not a fan of evolution, but as far as science and mathematics, he feels that God gave us intellect and ingenuity. We were designed to be the smartest animals He created and would be wasting our gifts if we weren't figuring out how the whole world works.

Couldn't have said it better myself! However, I have to add. I also believe that Religion has a GREAT way of screwing up spirituality.

Interesting point. Christians take other parts of the bible as parables, why not the creation story? I'm not quite there yet, but I wouldn't argue with anybody about it. I don't think it is worth arguing about, I don't see either view affecting salvation.

I have never understood why some Christians try to argue that they don't exist. I don't see how the existence of a bunch of animals is in conflict with the bible in any way.

I don't have any reason to believe that the bones are fake. I can't imagine why anyone would fake something like that, but I don't pay enough attention to them to care even if they were.

Might be a repost, but I though this was interesting.
