First thing's first, here's some background on both whiskys:
Crown Royal Whisky
Crown Royal began production in 1939 when the King and Queen of England made the first Royal Tour of Canada. Samuel Bronfman of Seagrams decided to present them with a worthy product to show off their whisky making merits. Because of the nature of the status of these visitors, the whisky was given to them in a purple bag (one of the colors that in past and present history has signified royalty), and was featured with a bottle in the shape of a crown. Crown Royal today enjoys brisk sales to say the least and is featured in nearly every local bar here in Houston.
Texas Crown Club Whisky
Texas Crown Club has very little information available on it. It is created in Canada using barley, rye, and wheat. It is then shipped from Canada and bottled in San Jose, CA to be sold exclusively by MEXCOR, INC of Houston, TX. That's all that is known.
Now that some information on both brands has been established, let the bout begin.
Price: Crown Royal is typically sold at $26 per 750 ML at Spec's here in Houston. Texas Crown Club is sold for $24 per 750 ML bottle at Aldine Champion Liquor located at 23221 Aldine Westfield Rd, Spring, TX - (281) 355-1215 (no website).
Winner: Though by a small margin, Texas Crown Club Whisky
Taste: Crown Royal is a grainy young tasting whisky with some light maple and vanilla notes. It is really best used to mix with other non-alcoholic beverages such as cola or citrus sodas. Texas Crown Club is an exceptionally complex and smooth aged whisky with strong notes of maple, caramel, rye, and nuts.
Winner: Texas Crown Club WhiskyHow do we forget ourselves? How do we forget our minds?
