We want to cover a roughly 20x10 patio (fully covered) and another 12x16 (60% shade) in the back yard. Way outside of my capabilities. Cedar + shingles is ~$8k (10y warranty, same guy that built our fence, so we know he's good, 4 electricals included in the price). The aluminum (alumiwood, elitewood, w/e) looks pretty appealing (no restaining, no rot, no termites) and it's cheaper ($6.5k or so).
Anyone have one of the aluminum ones installed? They're popular in California and the desert states (and Houston where wood rots).
And if anyone installs these and thinks they can be competitive price wise... let me know.
