I don't agree with what you said.
When my second pit Rocky died of his heart murmur, I found my dog Goliath sleeping next to him and when I went outside he started crying. They never liked to sleep near each other and both had different kennels/beds.

I do miss him, and my other dog Goliath's attitude completely changed after that day. He became way more timid and lost a lot of weight in the weeks to come.
