So what would mexico do that they haven't already tried ?
I supplied a solution, now supply yours .
What should they do different ? even if they could.
Really this is all comical to me, because they have literally tried it all for a country of their means.

I don't think anyone is saying Mexico is free of fault but the reality is, they don't have the resources to effectively combat it. Not only do they deal with MJ being grown and distributed but they have all kinds of other drugs from other countries south of them funneling through the country on their way to the US.
If the US wanted to get serious about this, they'd convince Mexico to let us in with military or whatever other forces are needed and clean that shit up. With our guys doing the work who aren't on the payroll with the cartels, I'd bet it would be an easy problem to solve.

Though I do know a few beer bootleggers that will hook you up after 12:00am Sun-Thur and after 1:00am Fri-Sat. Six pack of beerz $10.00 or 12pk for $20.00Originally posted by SilverbackLook all you want, she can't find anyone else who treats her as bad as I do, and I keep her self esteem so low, she wouldn't think twice about going anywhere else.

Hell yes we're to blame. The war on drugs is a joke.
Eric hit the nail on the head here. DHS will gladly capture the bundles of drugs and watch the mule scurry back south. Their funding is far more important than catching the bad guy. They stack it up, smile for pictures, and continue their "fight". It's laughable. Those organizations bringing in the dope are always two steps ahead of the enforcement, and will always have more resources and individuals at their disposal than any agency trying to police the border. They anticipate loss and rule with an iron fist. It's a losing battle.
Also, I'd venture to say that 3/4 of the cartels' income comes from pot. Hell, they even fund grows on our land for christ sake. It's down right ridiculous. Legalize it and move on.
Oh yeah, and the current administration will tell you that legislation has provided jobs in many floundering communities.....by building prisons to lock up more Americans, the majority of which are non-violent drug offenders. Hoo-ray for the war on drugs!
There are far more Americans addicted to LEGAL drugs than illegal. I'd say legalize them all and let natural selection take it's course.

There are many ways to define "intentionally hurting others."
Now we are getting into the works of Jean Jacques Rousseau.

Personally, I'm for the decriminalizing of marijuana, and making it just a small-fine ticket-able offense for usage in public. (like 50 bucks)
Anyone carrying enough to sell, should be given a much greater fine, and after x offenses, should see jail time.
This should alleviate all the people in prison who are just there because they decided to smoke a little pot outside the house and got caught.
I think its crazy some of you guys want to legalize ALL drugs and "let nature run its course". Last think i want on my drive to work is an 18-wheeler driver all jacked up on his "legal" dose of meth barrelling down the wrong side of the freeway, now confident everything is fine because hey, its legal now.
However, i think every company should still have the right to drug test anyone they don't want on drugs, but at the same time, they should be able to not drug test if they will it. It will be interesting to see how insurance companies respond to all of this.
Legalizing or decriminalizing pot wont do ANYTHING for the situation in mexico. In fact, bloodshed will increase as they scramble to control things like human trafficking, cocaine, meth, gun running, counterfeit drugs, human organs, and any other kind of smuggling you can think of. That's how the game works. They aren't just going to go "golly gee, pot is now legal in the US, my main receiver of my product i guess I'll go back home and work for 10 pesos a day working at Casa Bonita."
Never doubt the ingenuity of the criminal underclass to find a way to make money illegally, regardless of the danger to society.
This is just my take on the situation, you might very well disagree.

I see this comparison all the time, and it doesn't make any sense. Alcohol is legal, but you can't go getting drunk and driving around.

Operating a motor vehicle under the influence is not legal, no matter if the drug is.
I don't see the danger in legalizing all drugs when there are just as many addicts on legal drugs that are just as dangerous. Legislation and locking these folks up is not solving anything, and never will.
If you're going to try more illicit substances just because they are legal, then good luck to you. I won't be partaking. It's an extreme idea I admit, but we've got to try something at this point.
I don't give two shits about what happens in Mexico, now or after legalization.
