Danny, you're crazy. People should still have common decency. Calling or texting someone before 8 am or after 10 pm for some shit like that is just rude. I can see where some would draw the line at 7 am or maybe 11 pm, but outside of those hours, people should just know better. It's a shame that they don't!

And because too many people don't know better, I would never put my phone number on a craigslist ad. And if I was looking to buy something, I'd rather email them anyway, so the lack of a number wouldn't bother me.

I'm curious - why don't some of you buy from people without a phone number on their ad? Is it a fraud issue?

I've had more of those than I care to count, and it's been tenfold since my separation/divorce. I'm as honest as can possibly be right out of the gate.

B - "All I want is sex, I may call you to go have drinks a night or two. But sex is all I'm after. Let me repeat, all I want is sex. I don't want a relationship, I don't want the commitment that goes with it, and I'm far too selfish and too much of an asshole to deal with the drama and baggage that relationships involve."

          W - "I'm ok with that."

          a week or two later...

B -"There is absolutely, positively no chance of this becoming a relationship. Ever. I just need to make that perfectly clear. Again."

          It never fails....

W - "Well we've had sex several times and gone out a couple times, I thought you were starting to like me... Why are you being such an asshole now?"

B - "I just got a shiny new toy that I want to play with for a while."

          W - SMACK! "You're such a fucking asshole!"

          B - "Well, I did warn you..."

I've had problems with spammers after I reply to a fake ad before. Craigslist is bad about spammers posting ads to collect up email addresses of people that reply. Same thing with people that email about ads, 75% of them are people that want to send you a check then oops my secretary messed up and sent to much, just cash the check and send me back the difference!

...and then they feel the need to post the response on here like it's some sort of hilarious revelation.

I can understand the no picture in the ad thing, I hate that shit. If you can't post a picture, you don't need my money.

But putting your phone number on craigslist is in no way "adult", that's asinine. If they can't put together an email, in english, that I can read, I'm not doing business with them. That's a good way to screen out the morons.

I didn't read all of the replies, but it was a text, not a call, so who cares what time he sends it.. It will be waiting for you when you are available, much like an email. If you don't want to be bothered by late night texts leave your cell in another room at night, or turn off text notifications at night.

Just reiterating that I did not call or text anyone at 4am, nor would I. I'm just saying it's dumb to put your phone number on craigslist and expect that the people reading it will have any common decency or sense.

I don't understand why people use notifications for texts anyways. Just set it to vibrate. That way if its in your pocket you feel it and if it's on a table or desk you can hear it vibrate.
