I was ticketed for 60 in a 30 and got it reduced and took deffensive driving, 200$ later I was done and it was off my record.

Got hit for 51 in a 35 lawyered up and it was dismissed. Lol get a lawyer they are cheaper then the fines on traffic tickets, mine was only $50.

+1 for lawyer. What city was the ticket issued in?

Wrong. They can typically get you a shorter probation period, discounted fine (to make the attorney's fee a wash, usually), and the ability to use this option multiple times in one year if needed. With the costs being about the same, it's silly not to go this route.

In my experience, they CAN do that but hardly ever do. Costs were not the same, because you paid for the lawyer PLUS what you would have paid if you did it yourself.

I did have one get me an overlapping deferred period, but other then that none did anything that I couldn't have done myself. I used all the popular named lawyers always recommended on the car sites.

Unless you are in a bit of a tricky situation (speeding WAY in excess, already on deferred, out of options, etc) I'd just handle it yourself.
