FORT WORTH, Texas -
A man and a woman were killed when someone pulled up next to their car on the freeway service road in south Fort Worth and opened fire Sunday night, police say.
Police say Fabian Guerrero, 21, of Fort Worth, and Diane Guerra, 22, of River Oaks, both died at the scene. Two other people in the back seat were injured by gunfire, and a third passenger was unhurt.
Fort Worth Police Capt. Kevin Rodricks says about 9:20 p.m., all five people were in a white Toyota sedan headed south on I-35W. When driver Guerrero took the Sycamore School Road exit, police say an unknown gunman in an unknown vehicle pulled up next to them and fired at least eight shots.
Guerra was in the front seat. The two injured men in the back had gunshot wounds to their legs.
Officers spoke with the uninjured passenger who says he has no idea why someone would try to hurt them. The passenger told police the group had just left nearby Hooters restaurant, so police are checking with staff there to see if there was any trouble.
