When you write someone up, it does not have to be a "three strikes and you're out" type of thing. It is just a documentation of their performance. When you do let them go, you'll have a documented history of their performance to CYA.

I hate people who argue or complain on a frequent basis. I work in an environment where if it is not government related or has ITAR restrictions then it goes over seas to Malaysia and India.

People fail to realize what they have in front of them. I can't do this blah blah blah. I can't work an extra hour because of blah blah blah. I won't be a team player because my priorities are wacked blah blah blah.

exactly! This is just this guy... A few others complain but atleast they work well....but this guy. It sucks because he is one of the smarter troubleshooters but at the same time lacks basic work ethics.

can him and move on, some people are just too stupid to grow up and get the big picture. i put up with someone like that for WAY too long and things are so much better without him.

The guy is smart he just is like a little kid. Blames everyone else for his mistakes, always has an excuse for everything instead of just owning up to it.

He has been late multiple times on top of all this and just this week I sent him home un-paid for the day. He seems to have never had anyone teach him about common work ethics...being on time, work in a timely matter etc etc..........

paper trails showing progressive documented coaching and counseling is the only way to get rid of them.

Just a different angle it could be medical and/or mental issue. This is the season and economy for depression.

I had a kid that worked for me that fell into the smart bit lazy classification. I carried him for years, dealt with the bullshit and lies, even fired and rehired him because his knowledge and ability were just too good. That being said, I finally had to fire him with a no rehire policy.

Last year i had a kid that worked for me, he showed up claiming he was sick.. Yet looked fine, plus he had a history of doing the same sort of action( my lazy ass didn't put it on paper) Anyways he followed me around for a good fifteen minutes and even into the bathroom while i brushed my teeth and got ready for the day.. I caved and said just go home..... Never saw him again till six months later he was filing for unemployement.. Glad he got declined. Cry baby.
