Ferrari Driven by Gotham Dream Cars Employee Strikes and Kills Motorcyclist

A Ferrari F430 from the fleet of Gotham Dream Cars, an exotic-car rental company with offices in Englewood, N.J., and Miami, struck and killed a motorcyclist Sunday in East Rutherford.

According to a report from The Record of Bergen County, two employees of the company were returning to the parking lot of MetLife Stadium, site of the Dream Car Sprint Program, from a nearby gas station when Joseph Ferretti, driving one of two F430 coupes, collided with Stephen Lenge’s Triumph motorcycle as Mr. Lenge was commuting to work.

Trooper Christopher Kay of the State Police told The Record that the two Ferraris were traveling in the opposite direction of Mr. Lenge when the collision occurred. Joseph Meyer, driving the silver F430, reportedly lost control of the vehicle, prompting Mr. Ferretti in the red F430 to cross the double yellow line in an evasive maneuver. He then hit the oncoming motorcycle.

Police investigated the accident scene through the afternoon to determine the speed of the vehicles when the collision occurred. Mr. Kay said preliminary evidence suggested the Ferraris exceeded the street’s speed limit of 25 miles an hour.

In a statement to the press, Gotham Dream Cars said its employees could not comment on the matter until the police investigation was completed.

As reported by Wheels in April, the Dream Car Sprint events are held in a coned-off section of the stadium’s parking lot. Participants are accompanied over three laps by one of Gotham’s driving instructors.

Mr. Ferretti, who is called Joey in Gotham Dream Cars literature, is listed on his LinkedIn profile as the head of the Dream Car Sprints Program. It was unclear whether he was related to Rob Ferretti, chief operating officer of the company.
