That's a great idea! I live in Tucson though. I will look it up on Google and see if I can find something in my area. Thanks. Oh BTW Walmart still carries Pennzoil Ultra in the 4qt jugs.

If you're only using 7qts then you're running a quart low. 5.0 is 8 quarts.

Just be discrete, don't spill shit, don't make a hayseed spectacle of yourself and you should be fine. In the three different apt. complexes I've lived in I always worked on cars. I just wasn't an asshole about it and we all got along fine.

Nice. I've helped with a couple of engine swaps in apartment complex lots(including my pos orange SVO)and never got any hell. I also did a 5 speed conversion on my 90 hatchback in the parking lot of the store I now manage. Of course I worked there back then, so that probably helped a little.

I think just about every autoparts store has a sign saying you can't work on your car in the parking lot. WHen I lived in an apartment, I changed my oil all the time. I just tried to be quick. I got busted by security once and I told him I dropped my keys in the engine( it was the only thing I could come up with) and he went on his way. What's it take like 10-15 min.to do an oil change?

We are running Royal Purple HPS in our car. There is a noticeable difference in the way the car runs. I would highly recommend using it. I do not think that Ford approves using it, however.

                    Quantitative difference, or psychological difference?

When I lived in apartments I always worked on my car in the parking lot but tried to do so after normal office hours, under my own covered parking space, and kept the visible tools / clutter to a minimum. I changed oil many times and did two head jobs on my car at the time.

Be discrete and they will overlook a lot of stuff. If you get busted apologize and be nice about it.

One of the maintenance guys knew that I was always working on my stuff out there but he was cool as long as no one complained about it.

The manual calls for 10k oil changes, but Im not so sure, even it it calls for 7 quarts. I changed it the first time at 5k, it probably could have gone to 7500 miles. The second one I did at 8.8k because I was going to S.A., and I just changed the third one yesterday at 13.5k miles. I used Mobil1 full syn 5w-20 and all three OCs were done with a motorcraft FL-500 from wally world, this is also the place I buy the oil, its the cheapest.

This oil change I will go 10k, I will do a oil filter and one quart of Mobil1 at 5k though, that filter just looks very small.

My 2011 5.0L F150 takes 7.7 quarts according to the manual. I wonder if/why Ford put two different oil pans on the same engine?

I always change my oil in my new Fords with Motorcraft at 1,000 miles to get rid of the break in lubricants. I then change the oil again with Motorcraft at 4k miles and 7k miles. At 10k miles I switch to Mobil 1 and then change the oil every 5k after that. The 5.0L uses the FL500 filter. I usually buy them by the dozen online (they end up being somewhere about $3.50 each).
