  • Cellphone Provider Question

So, I dropped my phone into the bathtub while I was washing my dog and need to get another one. I've been with T-Mobile for two years and have hated them for about 11 months and 3 weeks. I'm finally out of contract and am looking to switch providers now, especially after the bullshit they tried to pull with me this morning.

So, out of the other big three, who is the best bang for the buck? Had Verizon before T-Mobile, and the service was excellent, but the prices were much higher.
How do we forget ourselves? How do we forget our minds?

I've had good luck with AT&T. And they usually beat Verizon on their service plans. This time of year all the carriers are competing for business. Just shop around.

I have ATT and I get get probably 3-5 dropped calls per day, not to mention they were just named the worst cell provider in the nation by consumer reports.

I have AT&T and really like it. The voice service over 3G sucks(see dropped calls) but data is fast. If you choose AT&T, get a phone that allows you to select which network you want to use(EDGE/3G) for when you'll be talking. That eliminates 99% of the dropped call issues.

Could possibly be your phone. The only problems I have in the metroplex is driving through Coppell. Other than that, no problem. My wife and I were sitting on the beach at Mustang Island this summer and my parents called my cell from from here in D/FW to say hello. Clear as a bell.

There is a massive Doppler radar over there slightly northwest of 635/MacArthur area. I think that has something to do with dropped calls in and around that area. Just my guess.

I can tell you that I had tons of problems with my old Sony Ericcson AT&T cell phone. And I got a new LG 3G slide phone and it works great. On clear weather days, it's most likely the cell causing you grief. As there are cell towers just about everywhere now to constantly hand off the call as you are traveling.

F&%K AT&T... I have dropped 3 or 4 calls a day for the last few years and now that I am not going to be an employee I am looking forward to changing. I will most likely end up with Sprint. They have good phones and their prices are excellent. They have stepped up their game on network and have heard a lot of good feedback from customers I talked to. Don't buy into this 3G vs. 4G crap because the phones out now aren't fast enough to take advantage of some of these advertised speeds anyways.

if i had to do it over again, i'd go with Sprint. Currently have ATT and while I dont get all the dropped calls people complain about, their service is expensive and they're the last ones on the 4G bandwagon.

After comparison shopping, i came to the realization that they're all about the same.

all I can say is do not get sprint if you live in the Sachse/Wylie area. Their service sucks out here.

How many people with dropped call issues on AT&T have an iphone? Just curious...

I've had Sprint for about 10 years now and have been happy with them. Pretty much never have reception problems unless I'm really out in the midle of nowhere.
