Carroll Shelby dead?

Got this from another forum that I thought summed it up nicely...
I understand the accepted vernacular is to say its sad, how terrible, etc. I disagree. Its not sad that he passed away. He lived a life most of us could only dream of. He was born in the roaring twenties, grew up in the depression of the thirties, lived through a world war, came back home and eventually created an automotive empire where his name will always be associated with high performance automobiles, race track victories, and internal combustion powered good times. He is known by every gear head regardless of their chosen brand or sport. He then slipped away after almost a century of life....and what a life it was. We should all be so fortunate. Sad is seeing a twenty year old come home in a flag draped coffin. Sad is a child dying before they ever had a shot at life. Carroll Shelby passing at 89? Not sad. More like mission accomplished!
Death awaits all of us. He did more in his life than 99.9999% of us ever will. Godspeed Carroll. And if Godspeed isn't fast enough, grab a 427 side oiler and lay the hammer down!

R.I.P.
Dude should've died 3 times by now. He had been overhauled more than once and kept on ticking.
I respect what he did for auto racing in this country, but I can't wait to see a top-of-the-line production Mustang without his name on it.
and lmao @ "no more scribbles on glove boxes" comment.

I guess I can pretty much write off buying a 2013 GT500 now. I can only imagine some of the stupid bullshit you'd have to put up with at the stealership to buy one of those cars.Last edited by Broncojohnny; 05-14-2012, 12:52 PM.Originally posted by racrguyWhat's your beef with NPR, because their listeners are typically more informed than others?Originally posted by racrguyVoting is a constitutional right, overthrowing the government isn't.

Don't sweat it, they will still be still sitting at most car lots in a few months. Besides for the money I would get a 2011 or 2012 GT500.Originally posted by SilverbackLook all you want, she can't find anyone else who treats her as bad as I do, and I keep her self esteem so low, she wouldn't think twice about going anywhere else.

I'm also thinking that the Shelby name will be carried on by Ford through his family.
