I was pretty much right there. The doctor asked me if I wanted to cut the cord but I think stuff like that is nonsense and told her I didn't care either way. I just wanted the kid to be born and everything to turn out ok. It was cool to see him on the scale and think I was watching him take his first breath of air.

Watching the nurses clean him, weight him and whatnot was pretty cool. For me the best part was being the first one to hold him. They nurses had to pretty much take him away from me so his mom could get her turn.

I delivered a kid in the back of an ambulance, was the lady's fourth kid nothing magical or special, I just hoped the fucker started breathing. When I do have kids I'll talk to the misses and see what she thinks.

In the room next to her. I never looked, just stared at the medical equipment until I heard my son crying. I almost threw up when I heard them dump the placenta into a bag. Fuck, just describing this makes me want to puke.

I heard the placenta was good sliced and cooked with onions..... Anyone tried it?!

My first kiddo was a c section, so wasn't front and center for that one either.

This. I have 2 kids via 2 C-sections. I've stayed right by my wife both times.

I watched the C section. Probably what turned me off of watching the whole vaginal birth thing. Curiosity killed the cat, and I peeked around the little curtain thing they put up to keep the mom from seeing what they are doing. I've got a weak stomach when it comes to medical shit. No doubt I would have passed smooth out had I watched the vaginal birth. She went all natural with my second, and she had a death grip on my hand. I felt it was more important to support her, than it was to see my daughter actually pop out. I still cut the cord, and was the first to hold her. I don't feel that I missed anything, really. But to each his own.

Right next to her, but peering over the sheet to watch him come out. Then cut the cord and followed the nurse to the scale to clean his air passages and weigh him. It was chaos. She dilated really fast and the epidural was too late. Let's say there was lots of screaming.

LOL, same here. When it came time to push, the nurses asked my wife if she wanted a mirror. Even she didn't want to look...
