Why is it a big deal if a pure bred female dog is knocked up?

The female isn't looked at as tainted. The pups she has in the future with another pure bred will still be viewed as pure breds. The thing is, like many have already stated, reputable breeders wait between heats. Dogs generally go into heat 2 times a year, they should only be bred once a year. Back yard breeders will breed them every heat and not give the mother a chance to recoup. So the answer is, no the female is not tainted, but you just lost 1 year.

I grew up on a farm. I'm still dealing with the last two goats in my late grandfather's herd.

Adopt a stray and save a life. Too many dogs in this world to be breeding more intentionally.
