  • How many of you have done this?

I'm flying to new Bern north Carolina right now to help my brother drive back to fort worth Texas. He's in the marine corps and coming home for Christmas. This will be the sixth time I've done this. I do it so he has company and we make it back safe. I'll be there 10pm and start the 20hr road trip through the night. I also drive back with him and fly back home. He's being shipped out so the truck needs to be home, otherwise he would just fly home.

That's very honorable. Tell him thanks for me for his service and sacrifice.

Not millitary, but I drive with my sis when she goes up to Montana and back. Don't want her alone on that long ass drive through nowhere.

I dont know that i'd make it through the western edge of N.C. or eastern TN before I stopped and never came back to Texas. I really like the hill country there.

You gotta go a little southwest of Austin to get to the really nice hill country. West of New Braunfels is awesome.

Good luck on your trip Brian. Pretty cool thing you're doing.

In 1999, a friend and I flew to San Francisco, bought a 1967 Fastback with 411s and drove it back without stopping. It was entertaining, especially when the original bias ply spare blew out at midnight in the middle of nowhere.

That or 410s, can't remember what was the option for an 8 inch rear, but if memory serves it was 411s. C4 trans. It was fun.

Not many people realize what all Texas has to offer geographically, but it's a big state, and we pretty much have it all.
