Is there a way to find the "true" mileage on a car?

I just bought a 95 vert that shows 53,xxx and was told the same thing. the car has a P600B and quite a few things done to it but was told it was a theft recovery and has sat in storage.....
Anyone know what I can do to see if the miles are right?
