Man, that sucks. A so called safety feature malfunctions and puts you in the hospital. Sounds like lawsuit material to me.

          This^^
I am not one of those people that thinks every god damned thing in the world is worthy of a lawsuit, but this sounds like it might be. If their "safety feature" really malfunctioned and fucked you up that bad, I'd be talking to a lawyer after the surgery. Get well soon, and thanks for the heads up about the Polaris; I will have to keep this in mind when / if I buy an ATV.

Hope your recovery is a quick one. Getting tore up always sucks but when it's not your own fault it really sucks.

Damn dude that sucks, hope you have a speedy recovery.

I'm not one of those sue happy people either but after reading how it happened, I would sue.

Thanks for the well wishes. the frustrated and pissed off side of me wants to go hire a lawyer and go after their ass out of pure principal....but I'm not normally the sue'em type, and I know that would likely just open up an even longer drawn out painful process that I really don't want to enter into.

Once I'm better I'll just fix it and sell it....with what I'm going through right now I think I'll probably sell my RZR too. They've been fun and I've had a good run, but I'm thinking I need to get back into a jeep or bronco for my offroad escapades.

Funny thing....I've been through some pretty aggressive places on our ATV trips up to the mountains, even did a 250 mile trail ride once over several days...never got more than a torn jacket and some scrapes.....here when I do have a serious accident, it's right behind my house and on a pretty common flat surface....go figure. It does happen when you least expect it.

I'll stick to 2 wheels offroad. Quads are a death trap. Hope you heal fast!

I am not the sue em type either, but damn, they should have recalled them or something. You could have gotten killed because of a design flaw.

i agree, i would much rather be ripping across a field on a dirt bike than a quad/atv

An atv chases you but you can get away from a bike.

Damn dude. Hope you make a full recovery, that sounds horrible. I think I would have to consider getting litigious over something like that.

I'm glad it wasn't worse. I'm in the not litigious, but would look into the options group. It sounds like someone could easily get killed by the 'feature.'
