    Look at the facts.

    1. You said that there were quite a few.reports of people getting hurt due to this function.
    2. After 2 years Polaris changed how.the function worked. They realized the problem and changed how the function worked.

Now did Polaris ever put out any information to let people know that this was an.issue on those 2 years?
Did Polaris change how it worked and leave it at the without even acknowledging why the changed it?
If the answer is NO to those 2 things then I personally would have an issue with Polaris after an accident like yous that was no fault of your own.

Threads on here can get to 3 or 4 pages so quickly that I didn't even look at the post dates.

Oh man, sorry hear. I had a spill on my son's CRF150 couple weeks ago. Nothing near as bad as your deal. Just fucked up my right hand(looked like a small football), bruised some ribs and pissed blood for 2 days. I just turned 50 and I have to admit, that shit hurts. Could not imagine what you are going through. Hang in there, hope you heal up good.

any change you still have the links/resources where you found this info? I have someone that's thinking about buying a Polaris so I mentioned this "feature" to them and would like to provide some other resources for go-to info.

btw, I hope you made a full recovery.
I don't really have much anymore....used to have a lot in my favorites around the time that it happened, but on old machine that I took out of service a while back. It should be easy enough to find info on still , though. Just search for Polaris Sportsman ADC (Active Downhill Control IIRC). Most of the evidence I found was posted by other owners in various forums, but I do recall a couple ATV reviews warning of it's drawbacks too.

I have since learned that Polaris made some pretty big changes to that system in the last few years....it can now be turned on/off by a switch, and will not activate at speeds over 15 mph....I think it applies braking on all 4 wheels now too....instead of just the rear.

I wrote them a letter after I got further along with my recovery....nothing threatening, just positioned it as a courtesy warning. They actually responded too, but just basically thanking me for the feedback and a note that the ADC system had been through some revisions, to "check with my local dealer" for updates and improvements on newer models.

BTW, I just wanted to add.....I wouldn't make this a deal breaker on Polaris. Yes, I got hurt and I do still feel that it was mostly due to the way that the ADC engaged when it shouldn't have, but I could have prevented it also by remembering to take the machine out of AWD when I shifted up into high gear and onto the flat grassy surface (where it was no longer needed)....WHICH I DAMNED SURE ALWAYS DO NOW!!

Otherwise, I've owned 4 different Polaris machines since 2006 and I can say that they have all been very good ATVs. I still own the 07' Sportsman X2 and the 09' RZR, have had them both since brand new...both have had a good mix of utility work and trail play, and they've held up very well.
