that sucks. I liked the Kawa "engine brake" on my Brute Force, it would just slow you down when you let off the throttle. never heard of the Polaris issue, you should sue IMO.

Good luck on the recovery. When the time comes to start PT, get in there and push yourself...even when you're not at your therapy visits, keep doing the movements they give you.
Also thanks for the info...I have a Polaris 700 (2006-2007 I think) and wasn't really aware that this could happen. I haven't had the chance to get it up to 40 mph + yet, now I'll think twice about it. I use to have a Polaris 500 that was a few years older and have had it up to 35-40 but it didn't have that feature. This was a major eye opener. I was also planning on buying my kids Polaris' when the time comes...not so sure I'll do that now.

To the OP, hope you recover fast!
Grove, Sportsman 500 and large 4x4 type bikes are heavy and meant for low speed.
Sport quads, which are generally much faster, are way lighter and easier to manuever at fast speeds. They are also easier to get away from when wrecking if you know how to ride.
It sounds like the OP's accident was a freak accident and not caused by his riding skills. Things like that happen. We could all fall out of a chair tomorrow and break our necks. We all have dangerous hobbies.
I know when it comes to quads and trail riding I will stay away from the heavy hunting/work type fourwheelers and stick to the sport quads.

That sucks. I wrecked my bike last week, and I was lucky enough that I could ride home before going to the hospital. It's just been uncomfortable sitting and getting up from sitting. Hope you make a full recovery with a quickness.Originally posted by mustangguy289 View PostDesign flaw falls in the category.

Problem being it would be hard to prove without a video showing the affect of the rear end locking up. like if someone was behind you and caught it good on camera I would think the case would be pretty easy.
sorry about your luck man. heal up soon!
fuck the polaris engineers

Consult with a couple of lawyer's and see what they say just to check out your options. It could at the very least keep this (or something far worse) from happening to someone else in the future.
If you feel weird about doing it for the money consider just paying the lawyer, your medical bills and then donating the rest to a charity or something.

Hey Rheemo,
any change you still have the links/resources where you found this info? I have someone that's thinking about buying a Polaris so I mentioned this "feature" to them and would like to provide some other resources for go-to info.
btw, I hope you made a full recovery.

Damn, that makes my wrist hurt just looking at it.
I'm with the others that suggest contacting an attorney. I'm in no way a sue everyone.e type of person but I think this situation calls for it.
Look at the facts.
1. You said that there were quite a few.reports of people getting hurt due to this function.
2. After 2 years Polaris changed how.the function worked. They realized the problem and changed how the function worked.
Now did Polaris ever put out any information to let people know that this was an.issue on those 2 years?
Did Polaris change how it worked and leave it at the without even acknowledging why the changed it?
If the answer is NO to those 2 things then I personally would have an issue with Polaris after an accident like yous that was no fault of your own."You wouldn't know what crazy was if Charles Manson was eating Fruit Loops on your front porch"
