Yeah, as mentioned - pits have a bad name - but ya have to be careful of all dogs romping around. I agree with futant.
I live out a LITTLE BIT compared to a normal housing neighborhood and shooting these dogs romping around is not an option. Out of the 7-8 that romp around, most/all have collars and are friendly. I still chase them off though, since my kids stand just tall enough to be right at their face. I really wish their owners would be responsible though and I am thinking about spraying them after reading this thread. I won't shoot them, given there are houses near (many yards away, but still not safe enough for 12ga) and they've learned to run before I can get close enough to whoop them (Not cripple, just a little snap to make it clear).
