HID "drop in" headlights illegal??

That's damn near purple. Those arent as bright as the 4,500-5,500 range.

The last time I had only the fog lights on they produced nearly enough light to drive with. I replaced the stock housings on those with clear lenses though, which may or may not have anything significant to do with visibilty.

I've never stopped for this. In fact, none of the statutes posted above say anything about hid lighting. I heard about this when I was in the academy in '04, but have been unable to find anything in this lately.

Here's an interesting take on it from another TX LEO. Apparently aiming is not longer specifically listed in the law book, and non-DOT housing/bulb combinations are ticketable, and can be used for PC.

So his post supports the fact I can't find any TX law to cover HID lighting. According to his post there are NO texas laws that cover aftermarket HID lighting, only Federal. That said, there is a statute in the TX TC that states vehicles must comply with all federal TC laws.

HMM.. Interesting.
