    Personally I find MLK streets, overpasses, activity centers, pools, etc extremely useful when driving around a town I am unfamiliar with. If I see a sign for an MLK________ I know I am in the wrong damn part of town and need to go the other way.

    This is just like when the natives were making a racquet about renaming White Settlement to West Settlement, absolutely no consideration to cost incurred by the govt and business because of it.

          This is the same moron that had a fight with the city because of racist graffiti spray painted on her house. She wouldn't remove it and the city did it for her. Im sure she did it herself just to stir up shit Now she's the Arlington president for the NAACP, hmmmm! Division street isn't gonna change names but it makes that organization looks like a bunch of idiots for trying.

              Just another case of a loud mouth activist that would be powerless and unknown without the foundation of race behind their organization. It won't happen. I would like to see video of the responses they get from walking in to some of those businesses along Division to try and get signatures. A lot of them are Middle Eastern and Hispanic owned and hold nothing back when it comes to dealing with the black community. That would be hilarious.

                                Historically Arlington, like most suburbs, has been lily white. I’ve lived here since 1983 and the demographic breakdown then was roughly 88% white, 6% Asian, 3% Hispanic and 3% black. It’s really only been in the last 15 years or so that the minority population has exploded. It seems more than a little disingenuous for the NAACP to talk about past grievances and (imagined) slights when blacks are relative newcomers to the city. Perhaps blacks and their leadership (lol) should focus on being contributing members of the community rather than being a drain on city services, driving school test scores into the shitter and petitioning for irrelevant bullshit like renaming a major thoroughfare. Just a suggestion…
