  • Speaking of unneeded surgical procedures

I'm going in to get my wisdom teeth cropped but they said I need someone to drop me off and pick me up because I won't be able to drive home after the procedure, how true is that?

I got em done in boot camp but all I got was fucking novacaine. I don't see why you couldn't drive unless military dentists really are that terrible.

Depends on how bad they are. They had to put me completely under and cut them out of my jaw. I would recommend getting the ride.

Wisdom teeth removal isn't cosmetic. :-)
If they use they same sedation they used on me, it's very true. I remember sitting in the dental chair and waking up on my couch. I have no idea what happened in between.

I don't exactly remember what they gave me when hey pulled mine, but I was awake for it and still needed a ride home. I think give you some type of sedative or something.

Were your jeans unzipped when you woke up?

IV sedation will hammer you. It's not exactly "drillin' and fillin'".

If its cheaper, ill ask if they can just hit me upside the head with a frying pan. I know there's a price difference in the type or form of sedation

Likely true. It's been 35+ years since mine (on one side only) were removed, and the oral surgeon used an injection of Valium for sedation. Very effective and no pain.

Yeah military dental sucks it's all about how much money they can save. What they don't tell you is you can request to go out in town for procedures like that (maybe not in boot camp but I got mine done out in the fleet). I wasn't about to let the doc numb me up a little then crunch them out of my head.

They gave me a referal out into town, put me on some gas and an IV and I don't even remember saying 99 when counting backwards from 100. Knocked me out I woke up in my Jeep with my now ex-wife driving and feeling like I had been pounding beers all night. Felt very drunk

Got home popped some of the pain nmeds then slept for most of the rest of the day. Trust me you aren't driving yourself home if they are going to put you under.

I'm sure there's a price difference with the IV sedation. If they're exposed, he can probably just pull them. I had one pulled 25 years ago, and once he gpt it out, it wasn't so bad.

I was nekkid, but I have a bad habit of sleep stripping if I go to sleep wearing clothes.

If I get an IV then yes, I probably wont be able to power through it. The problem I've been running into lately is price. These teeth are completely exposed and my ins. covers a large portion of the procedure but so far 2 different dentist are trying to charge me for a more complicated extraction. The last Guy tried to nickel and dime me to death with all his BS fees and such

Remind them that 100% of nothing is zero, and ask if they'd like to reevaluate their rate structure.

                              They knocked me out...

I had amnesia for 2-3 hours after I woke up. Didn't remember my name or anything.
