Pick whatever desk job you like, and just sit in front of it...
"Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes...Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man." - Thomas Jefferson, 1776
CHOOO CHOOOO$$$$$$$$$$$$$ I never knew there was any other career possibility...
I'm in sales, and I love it. Though I am the worst salesman that's ever walked the face of the earth, and I hate "selling" It's very strange. I have the technical know how, and people trust me because of it, so I do very well. I do have an office, but I work from home here and there. Lately though, I've been on the go constantly, and my Expedition is my "office".
No two days are ever the same. It's always an adventure. I'm constantly challenged. I do a lot of problem solving and solution selling. I'm very competitive, so I love kicking the competition's ass. I thoroughly enjoy the people I work with (most of them). I love my customers (most of them). I've come a long way in a relatively short amount of time, both professionally and financially. But my career revolves around my favorite hobby, and most people advise against that. Personally, I think it's why I enjoy it so much. I've been doing this for the last decade now, and I can't imagine doing anything different.
I'm quite curious as to how your type of sales works.. I know and understand most of the stuff you sell.. I've been curious for quite a while now.. shoot me a PM

Explain a little more what you'd like to know specifically, and I'd be happy to.

But, just like condoms and women's rights, I don't believe in them.
I was talking about this the other weekend. I would like to move to hawaii and sale umbrellas on the beach for a living. No stress and all the fish you can eat for free LOL
Yeah, I've been knocking around the idea of getting out of the IT industry after 22 years and doing something else....
It's the matter of having no income which would be the problem
I am due for a raise. Reviews are up and this is my first review in this new role/promotion. There are rumors the no raise bar has been lifted and we will start getting raises. That's good because I am getting tired (literally) of working 60-70 hours a week salary. If I don't get compensated well I don't know how much longer I can hold out.
I know a guy who was doing what I am doing now, and probably the same amount of experience, got a sweet gig last year. Same org, IT, but he has a nice title, corner office, expense account, and company car....
any sort of field service position. I rarely spend more than a full day at my desk. more often than not, my office is my f350 on a mountain top somewhere remote. days like that make me appreciate not being stuck in a cube farm anymore.
Meh, it depends I guess. What I mean by "worst salesman on the face of the planet", is that I'm not a pitch guy, much to most sales manager's chagrin. I approach things very differently than your typical salesman. I focus on better, more efficient ways to do things, and fixing problems. I'd never make it as a pitch man.
If I can get you that price - and I'll have to ask my boss, because you're really raping me here - will you agree to buy right now?
