  • Headed to San Angelo

I head to SA tomorrow and I'm kind of stoked. This is my first paid speaking gig so I'm a bit nervous. I am a subject matter expert for PTSD down at San Angelo State Tuesday, so it's drive down, do my thing Tuesday and head back Wednesday. I also have it set up for some range time with the .500 Wednesday before I leave, one of the professors who is putting it together asked me if I really had one and to bring it.

Man I hope I do well on this. I just thought I'd share with yall as this could be a new career direction
    I wear a Fez. Fez-es are cool

Sounds like a really great opportunity in a business that is all about networking. Good luck and make some friends!

Good luck. I was going to be mean and say people don't go "to" SA, but after reading the rest, I understand.

Public speaking is a blast, Wish I had the opportunity to do more of it.

Hopefully it's at the University and not the State Hospital (nuthouse). Is it going to be at the Junell Center? I may see if I can attend if there is no reservations. Good luck

just got back from there. remember it's Angelo State - not San Angelo State - the locals get a little testy about it. Good Luck!

If your looking for something eat to Zentner's across the street from the campus is pretty decent.

From what I understand, the company that is paying me to come down has me set up for a meal at Johnny Carinos and some pizza place next to the hotel. See what makes this interesting is when I'm in front of anyone I don't know, I go into panic mode. What I'm going to do is do a balancing act of medication and adrenaline which is one hell of a tight rope. Too low and I burn through the medication in a few minutes and get very hyper. Too high and I'm a slug that can't pay attention

Speaking in front of people is harder than it looks. Having an ice breaker to ease into it helps though I don't really know your audience. It took me a year or two to really get comfortable but jumping into it and facing head on will let you overcome speaking in front of crowds easier. Also for me, not over thinking it helps to. I know what needs to be discussed and wouldn't visit it mentally until It was my turn.

What hotel. Kind of a shame to go that far and eat somewhere you could eat at in Dallas. I understand they're paying in this instance, but I try to hit local spots when possible. I like Henry's and Mejor Que Nada.
