Snorkeling in Roatan or Belize City?

We're going on a cruise next month and need the low down on these 2 locations.

Which one is better for snorkeling?

Roatan or Belize City????

Hard to snorkel in a city. Well, I guess it's easier than snorkeling in the ocean, but you'd certainly look like a fool city snorkelin'.

I will be snorkeling in Roatan in August. Haven't been to either place yet.

Make sure you zip line in one. Roatan's lines were the faster of the two. Did not see either destination as a good snorkel spot. If I had to choose one I would try to snorkel roatan

I was in Belize 20 years ago. Blue waters and millions of full trash bags on the beaches. We where stationed outside of Punta Gorda real close to Guat. boarder.

Roatan is the winner.

Belize by far, as long as you snorkle the barrier reef. Just outstanding. Roatan can get a little muddy but has some decent wrecks to explore.

Their both good. I have dove both. BUT in Belize, you are going to have to take a pretty decent boat trip to get to some decent snorkeling..It's not close to the cruise ship peer.

This is true. Spanish Lookout Island is about a 20 minute boat ride from where the ship anchors (no port for Carnival Dream - too big). But the reef dive/snorkle is well worth it.

Also, if in Belize, you must try their Belican beer. Really good stuff.

Are you saying that the pier is too small in Belize for the Dream?
