I don't know why the defense is putting Martin's father on the stand. I don't see how this is going to help their case in any way.

I know that, the jury knows that, everyone following knows that. They put up two officers that confirmed as much. No need to put the father on the stand. All that is going to do is make the jurors empathize. It's a bad strategic move, IMO.

Most of it comes back to the idea that to convict on 2nd degree murder, the prosecution MUST prove without a doubt that Zimmerman went there that night with that gun with a plan to kill that person. There has to be motive to kill THAT person with a plan. No motive? No plan? No conviction. If the Judge does his job and gives that instruction to the jury, this is a no brainer. I think the defense is making sure this remains a castle case so there is no chance the family can come after Zimmerman in civil court for damages...ie they knew their son was a piece of shit and recognized it in his voice....a "yeah, I can tell that's my son cause he says shit like that."

I may have a misunderstanding of the difference between M1 and M2....but I think both require intent to kill a specific person. When there is no intent or it's random, it becomes manslaughter. Again, I could be off base but have always thought that the M2 charge was not going to hold water but was to feed the race baiters.

I think the only reason they're moving with this trial is because they wanted him to plead to a lower charge to placate the masses and claim a win. When he refused, they had no case so they put this circus together

His parents jumped into it because they think they're gonna get payed at the civil trial, regardless of what happens here.
