I heard a law expert say that the prosecutor might have charged him with 2nd degree murder with the plan that they would plea bargain down to manslaughter.

From what I understand the Jury will also be presented with the manslaughter charge so that they can downgrade if they think he is guilty of the lesser charges but not guilty of the higher charge.

Ok, well that makes sense.

I really think a prosecutor will have a hard time proving that Zimmerman was willing/wanting to kill someone especially when zimmerman defended himself once they went to the ground. But I believe the prosecutor will be able to prove that zimmerman was negligent in his actions and created the situation the lead to martin's death.

Sadly, I can see this happening.

Interesting, in the lawyers press conference video, starting at about the 20 minute mark, they lay out that z DID stop following, went back to the front to get an address, and t came from the other end to the front and accosted z, asking if he had a problem with him, z said no, t said you do now. That's evidently on the 911 tape.

Then the affidavit is evidently trying to say that the stand your ground law is not applicable because z started the altercation by beginning to follow t, thus it is his fault t came around and confronted him. This is how they are trying to beat the evidence, by suppressing the SYG law on this ground.

They (the prosecution) are going to lose this case.
