I'd say no, but IMO he showed no remorse when he tortured/murdered that poor puppy so he should be dealt with in the same manner.

Only fitting punishment would be to douse the fucker with lighter fluid and light'em up. Then, just before he loses consciousness, put him out with a mixture of alum and salt.
      Alum and salt?
How do we forget ourselves? How do we forget our minds?

Dallas news, headlines, weather, sports and traffic from KDFW FOX 4 News, serving Dallas-Fort Worth, North Texas and the state of Texas.

DALLAS - The man suspected of killing Justice the puppy by setting him on fire turned himself in Friday night.

Eighteen-year-old Darius Ewing surrendered to Dallas police on animal cruelty charges.

Police said he poured lighter fluid on Justice outside some Pleasant Grove apartments then flicked a lit cigarette on him. Justice died 10 days later.

At about the same time Ewing turned himself in, a group of people gathered outside Dallas City Hall in support of the 4-month-old mixed breed puppy.

3 more charged in fatal puppy burning
              DALLAS -

Three more arrest have been made in the burning death of Justice the puppy.

In April the stray pit bull was doused with lighter fluid and set on fire. He was nicknamed Justice by an animal rescue organization but died several days later from infection.

According to the Dallas County District Attorney's Office, 20-year-old Adrian Ayers and 24-year-old Darius Carey turned themselves in for the crime this week.

Ayers was already in custody for an unrelated crime.

Also, 24-year-old Richard Valentine was arrested Wednesday night on animal cruelty charges.

Another suspect, 18-year-old Darius Ewing, was arrested in April and also faces animal cruelty charges.

In an arrest warrant affidavit police said Ewing was the one who threw the lighter fluid on the puppy and Valentine, identified as "Little R," flicked the lit cigarette on him.

Ayers' bond was set at $200,000. No information about Valentine or Carey's bond amounts was immediately available.

Ewing's bond was reduced by half to $50,000, but he has yet to post that amount. If he does a judge ordered him to wear an electronic anklet and pass drug tests while awaiting his trial set for November.

I'm not certain they qualify as 'people'. More akin to animals in my book...

An eye for an eye would be proper punishment.
