    Bingo!

I actually like Best Buy. I really haven't had any noteworthy problems and have bought a decent amount from them over the years, including my laptop, and 60" Panasonic TV. The 0% financing they do on big purchases is nice. Fry's is like going into a damn WalMart in my opinion.

It's the way big box retail works, and always has worked. You pay a premium for their showroom floor, inventory on hand, and customer service presence. If you don't want that, you're more than welcome to buy online. If you need any one of those, anyone good at their job is going to ask if they can help. Get over it. Again, its the primary function of their job.

That's like bitching about car salesmen asking to assist you when you walk on the lot. Nobody forced you to walk in there. The entire thing can be handled with little human interaction online.

As someone else mentioned, it's far more irritating to have to hunt someone down in Home Depot when you have a question, than it is to politely say "no thanks, I know what I'm looking for.".

Yep! I hate going places and having to hunt someone down or hit the call button 3 times for 20 minutes and still not get any assistance. How hard is it to say "no thanks" or "just looking"? I don't see the problem. OMG, too much help!

Most people I talk to have nothing but good things to say about you, but you sure come across as a condescending prick. Do you have an inferiority complex you've attempted to overcome through overachievement? Or were you fondled as a child?

You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.

That is why I don't shop at Best Buy anymore. You are right, no one is forcing me to go there, and I'm not. To me it is easy to find someone in Home Depot, walk up to a cashier, tell them you need help on aisle ?? That seems hard I guess? I don't get mad about one person asking me if I need help. But when one after another ask, even some that just saw another ask me 20 seconds ago, that irritates me. They always tend to do it when you already have what you are looking for and walking to the register.

I'm just proving a point to the self important douchebags. Nobody wants to work retail. Nobody grows up thinking "when I grow up I want to sell stuff to the biggest assholes on the planet."

No way, no how I could work retail. I wouldn't even make it through a single shift. Waiting tables was bad enough.

Lately I've had really good service at the Best Buy in Frisco. Walked in and out with a new phone in about 15 minutes this weekend and they pricematched Sam's (which is against policy).

This is one of the stores that they cut in half though... If I'm buying a big ticket item I typically will go to Frys although its a way longer drive.

Some of you guys gotta realize that while you have done research and can read signs the average consumer is a complete fucktard moron.

Prime example. I just had some one ask me where something was after they walked the aisle 3 times. I took 4 steps and pointed out 3 different package sizings

Best Buy can suck a dick. So glad they are tanking. Forty dollars for a USB cable? No thanks.

My roommate in college was on Geek Squad. Didn't know the first thing about computers.

Best Buy is a sinking ship. I worked there for 5 years starting in high school. They were making money hand over fist back then (I started in 1992). One of the few regrets I have in life is not buying their stock and not signing up for their 401K because their shit was going nuts! But I was only 16 and didn't know any better at the time.

The reason the CEO resigned was because the board of directors were investigating some character issues that came up concerning him.

because some pencil pushing CEO's always think. whatever sounds good in theory must work!!! when in reality it's hurting the company,

                              most ceo's and VP's
are out of touch with the 'real world' they don't listen to management at the store level.
just because something worked back in the 70's OR 80's when he/she was working at a store, don't mean it's going to work in todays marke!

Yep, got my fridge, few AV amps, tons of movies, games, music, ipods etc... Best Buy is a fun toy store to shop in.

What really pisses me off is fucken mp3s, and their idea that no one wants cd's anymore... so they turn 1/6th of the store with all their selections into like 2 short racks of cd's, which are all mainly new shit from the last week to come out.

Does anyone know of a good fucken cd shop left? There's one in Carrollton off Trinity Mills and Midway, but Id not consider it really great... that place still only had half of what I was looking for.
