  • The end coming for Best Buy?

Best Buy CEO resigns; shares fall

Brian Dunn steps down as the electronics retailer continues to lose market share to companies like Amazon. Director Mike Mikan will act as the interim CEO.

Shares of Best Buy (BBY -2.30%) rose briefly Tuesday after the company announced that its CEO has resigned, but were falling by mid-morning.

Best Buy CEO Brian Dunn said Tuesday he is leaving the company. Director Mike Mikan is taking over as interim CEO while the retailer searches for Dunn's replacement.

I bring this up because there are many reasons why I will not step foot into a Best Buy. I think they fail to see why they don't have customers. My biggest complaint is their "customer service". Anyone ever been into a Conn's? I think Best Buy and Conn's both have the same customer service mentality, annoy the hell out of the customer. I don't mind being asked by one person if I need help, but if you multiply that by 20, it gets a little irritating. I feel like I am at a used car lot. If I need help, trust me, I will find you.

In pretty much any retail store if you are within about 10 feet they have to ask. I've seen more than a few people let go for not doing so

And that is why they are about to be going out of business. I doubt I am the only one that gets annoyed by this tactic. I used to shop at Best Buy all the time, bought my Tv there, but I just got sick of it.

They announced last month that they would be closing close to 1/4 of their stores, I think it was.

Funny. Every time I've been in Best Buy, nobody gives a fuck. They used to be attentive, but I guess that shit flew out the window some years ago.

It's not only you, it bothers me too. I can walk down an isle and someone asks if I need anything and before I finish walking down the same isle another person asks me.

They are all backed by a third party anyway. You'll still be able to call them, it'll just be much more of a hassle than going to your local store, if they do in fact close up shop.

Same thing happened with Computer City after Tandy sold them, and they went under. Warranties were all still valid.

In some ways Id rather have someone ask if I need anything than to be roaming up and down aisles at Lowes or HD trying to hunt someone down. THat pisses me off more.
