  • Let me turn on my flashlight..BOOM! Oops, my bad

Cop tries to turn on flashlight that is mounted on his pistol and pulls trigger by accident. It is tragic, but I still laughed.

Michael Anthony Alcala, 25, of Carrollton was fatally shot in the chest on Oct. 13 in a Far North Dallas parking lot. Undercover narcotics officers had set up a meeting to buy heroin. As they moved in to make an arrest, a police sergeant accidentally fired his weapon while trying to turn on the gun-mounted flashlight.

They claim he was selling drugs, but I don't think they found any on him.

                Lmfao.

While the officer should be in prison, the family shouldn't get a fucking dime. Didn't read all the way through, but I bet the flashlight mfr is next. If your son wasn't selling heroin, he wouldn't be dead. Look at it this way... If the cop didn't do it, a junkie would have. So it was only a matter of time from the get go

apparently they had recently changed equipment and the new flashlights switch was in a different location. Didn't know his equipment and is guilty; its his job to at least know where the trigger is.

Not a fan of having anyone point a gun at me for just this reason. Point that shit somewhere else. If you need a light get out your fucking light. Then again I am not a heroin or drug dealer so I guess they get that kind of treatment on a daily basis. I just got pulled over for 11 over, I will gladly sign for the ticket just don't shoot me by accident. lol
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

                          The story said:

They filed suit, he said, in hopes of preventing any future accidental shootings.
I'm sure that's part of it, but $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ is probably a big part of it. If it's not, then they should donate all of the money to some charity.

One other thing, there's a cap in Texas when it comes to suing a municipality:

Texas Civil Practice & Remedies Code
Sec. 101.023. LIMITATION ON AMOUNT OF LIABILITY. (a) Liability of the state government under this chapter is limited to money damages in a maximum amount of $250,000 for each person and $500,000 for each single occurrence for bodily injury or death and $100,000 for each single occurrence for injury to or destruction of property.

                          (b) Except as provided by Subsection (c), liability of a unit of local government under this chapter is limited to money damages in a maximum amount of $100,000 for each person and $300,000 for each single occurrence for bodily injury or death and $100,000 for each single occurrence for injury to or destruction of property.

                          (c) Liability of a municipality under this chapter is limited to money damages in a maximum amount of $250,000 for each person and $500,000 for each single occurrence for bodily injury or death and $100,000 for each single occurrence for injury to or destruction of property.

                          (d) Except as provided by Section 78.001, liability of an emergency service organization under this chapter is limited to money damages in a maximum amount of $100,000 for each person and $300,000 for each single occurrence for bodily injury or death and $100,000 for each single occurrence for injury to or destruction of property.

                          Acts 1985, 69th Leg., ch. 959, Sec. 1, eff. Sept. 1, 1985. Amended by Acts 1987, 70th Leg., 1st C.S., ch. 2, Sec. 3.03, eff. Sept. 2, 1987; Acts 1995, 74th Leg., ch. 827, Sec. 2, eff. Aug. 28, 1995; Acts 1997, 75th Leg., ch. 968, Sec. 2, eff. Sept. 1, 1997.

Sec. 101.024. EXEMPLARY DAMAGES. This chapter does not authorize exemplary damages.
