The funny thing is that they're going to sue for $250,000 then Obama is gonna come and take half of it for taxes since they made over $250,000. Unless there's some law stating you can't tax court appointed earnings.

No one here knows if the cops are telling the truth about a supposed heroine deal. Cops are people too and people are very capable of lying to cover their ass. The evidence right now is that the suspect had no weapon or drugs on him. I'm very willing to go with "innocent until proven guilty" when it comes to suspect.
But the guy commenting here is very much correct. His criminal pass isn't relevant here. That dumbass of a cop could have done that to anyone.
Alcala had felony convictions for driving under the influence, possession of marijuana and unauthorized use of a vehicle. He also served time in the Texas Youth Commission.
Weisbrod said there is no way of knowing what Alcala was doing in the parking lot that night. Alcala had no gun or drugs on him and posed no immediate threat, Weisbrod said. His past criminal record and any possible criminal activity that night don't matter, Weisbrod said. "This could have happened to anybody," he said.

I'm just amused that the city of Plano has the ability to limit its liability to $250K. Maybe I should limit mine to $3.Originally posted by racrguyWhat's your beef with NPR, because their listeners are typically more informed than others?Originally posted by racrguyVoting is a constitutional right, overthrowing the government isn't.

Cop should be in Jail.
Example: BART Cop (Bay Area Rapid Transit) Cop shot a man unarmed and in cuffs because he thought he had is Taser. Cop shot him in the back and killed him. The cop was charged with Manslaughter and got convicted in San Fran.
The Plano Cop should be charged with the same exact thing.
You don't "Accidentally shoot someone" if you are pointing your gun at then deliberately. The who flashlight thing just seems like an excuse to me.

Here's a pic of the officers gun:
