we dont get any kind of overtime for working holidays if they fall on a sat or sun. sucks big time but the perks of my job outweighs not getting paid extra for those very few days that fall on weekends. although working last year on chirstmas day with no kind of overtime sucked

that's where being salary sucks. You never get any kind of ot. I worked a full day yesterday with no type of extra compensation. Of course, working for a bank means i have more days of being off than yesterdays situation.

It really sucked knowing most people were off or got off early though.

i'm salary too but it's different

we have a minimum of 40 to work every week but get paid OT for anything worked past 40hrs, and double time for working holidays. but say we work only 30hrs one week, we have to use 10hrs of vacation/sick/comp time to make the 40 for the week. we get our normal check once a month and OT checks come every other friday if you have some coming to you

since i am on shift work i only work 3 and a half days a week, and still work 42hrs a week. if a holiday comes on a weekday that i am already off, i get 8hrs of OT(not 1.5 pay, but 1.0). that concept of getting paid for not even being here was weird at first, but i have grown to accept it . for the longest i didn't understand why we got paid for not even being here. after a while i learned it was because the guys that work mon-fri get the day off but do not lose any money. since it is already my day off it is unfair to us they get paid time off and we(shift work guys) dont. so to make it even they give us 8hrs of straight pay with our OT checks
