I don't leave it in because I invariably crush my shin on it.

      Nice!

It has saved me countless times from those drivers that either don't know how to park, just don't care, or can't judge distance at all when pulling into a parking space. I always look to see if another license plate, grille, and/or bumper has been damaged every time I park in a parking lot that has back to back spaces. It's nice to have that buffer on there.

I busted my shin once and learned my lesson. I either give a wide area of clearance or drop the gate to make sure I walk around when I'm doing stuff around it. Man that hurts, for weeks.

What exactly is the purpose of this law in PA?

It maybe law and maybe enforced somewhere - but most of my family just leaves them in 24x7 since they use it daily. Never heard of them having problems.

Quit walking so close to other peoples vehicles.

http://www.carinsurance.com/kb/content55246.aspx About the only article I could find on the subject - law wise that was not just gibberish. (still could be wrong)

Long story short, it may not be illegal to have the hitch in from a state point of view. Unless it's blocking the plate, is a local (city/township...etc) law...etc...etc.

I'd post the text, but it's a little long...

To satisfy the liberal pussies that blame everyone else for their problems.

"I know I rearendended you with my piece of shit prius, but it is your fault my car has excessive damage caused by your receiver hitch."

What if you're pulling a trailer and someone hits the trailer. Is that also excessive since it is merely attached to and being pulled behind the vehicle? Just curious as to how far they're taking this.
