  • Baby question

no im not having one but my cousin is and what they are telling her i thought was rediculous, they are telling her that since her deductable is 5k she will have to pay 10k (a deductable for her and one for the baby) is this true?? the reason im also asking is because my lady also works at this company and if we ever decided to have a baby i dont wanna get screwed paying two deductables

That doesnt sound right to me at all. I thought a deductible was a yearly amount that you had to meet on your total insurance costs on all persons covered, not by the individual. As long as they are all on the same insurance. Hmmm...

That is wrong. You should be paying the deductible for the mother. And that is it.

She will more than likely hit her family out of pocket for the year as well.

C-section was about 13k for us.

My deductable was 500. and then 10 percent after that. What i did was monthly payments to my OB during the 10 months and she was paid off before i delivered. The hospital should not charge you anything until after you deliver and they will bill you. Because i had complications my bill was pretty high but to pay all that up front does not make any sense. Is this the Doctor telling her this or the Hospital?
        See you later...

Yeah, tell her not to worry about it until the Doctor tells her that. They may be correct on what she will owe but i highly doubt thats all upfront. I think my delivery cost me close to ten grand when it was all said and done. But i did not have to pay it upfront.

Any prenatal care and birth costs should just go with the $5000 deductible. They deductible for the baby only kicks in for care after the baby is born.

Damn, that sounds outrageous to me! Please post up who her ins co. is, so we will all know where not to go. Both of my kids cost $277.00 ea. to be brought into this world. That was everything. They were born in 07' & 08'.

3 years ago, my daughter cost us about $85. . Maybe it was $185. Can't remember exactly, but I know for a fact it wasn't a penny over $200.

Sounds like your wife and cousin need better jobs, with better insurance.

Insurance provider has NOTHING to do with it. What makes a difference, is what plan it is. HMO, PPO, etc.

First one was free, next two were both under $300 out of pocket.
