  • Planned Parenthood is too good for Tucker Max's $500k donation

You would think an organization who is getting funding cut in Texas would be happy to accept $500k especially from someone who is a big promotor of their services.

In short: I tried to donate $500,000 to Planned Parenthood, and they turned me down because they were worried more about other people’s perceptions of the donation than helping women.

I tried. I really did. I was ready to arrange a $500,000 donation to Planned Parenthood in Texas. The donor was in the car on the way to meet the CEO, checkbook in hand. But then Planned Parenthood called and told him to turn around. They didn’t want his money. Want [...]

What a moron. If it wasn't a publicity stunt, he could have given an anonymous donation which he even said he wouldn't do.

I think part of it's him also proving a point. Why should he have to make it anonymous? If this org is really hurting they will take money...

EDIT: They did the same political BS that Susan G did to them when they pitched a fit for the cut support.

          This.

Want to add: Do you think a church would accept a donation from Hugh Hefner if he made it in his name?

            "I've moved on."

Which is why you wrote a 1500 word rant on a blog about it. Right.

Planned Parenthood does more un-planning of potential parenthood than anything... They should have accepted that donation with their mouths open and legs closed.

He is a supporter of planned parenthood because of all the women he convinced to abort his unplanned children. He is a douche but has some funny stories.

He is a writer. You have never got what you needed to say out in the open and then were "done with it"?

The whole point of the 'donation' is to lower his tax liability and get publicity. Anonymous donations don't get his name out there

No, I compared one place accepting donations based on principals to another place accepting donations based on principals.

I don't disagree that both organizations have every right to turn down money for whatever reason, but when you turn down a substantial amount of money from someone who not only promotes your services but also used them in the past it seems a little hypocritical to me. "Oh no he wrote a book about being a drunk college student and activities which directly correlate to many of the services we provide, no way we can take his money. How would that look?"

In your example Hugh Heffner neither uses or promotes religion and pretty much stands for everything most religions demonize, so it would stand to reason that a church would not accept money from him.

Admit it...it was the dumbest comparison ever lol. It literally makes sense. Comparing a church to planned parenthood? Tucker max to Hefner?

PP bitched about Susan G cutting funding because of what Susan G supporters thought. Now PP is being a hypocrite in not accepting donations when they need it most because of what people may perceive.
