I did it to mybig toe after dropping a 25lb barbell.

I heated it up to sanitize, but didnt go glowing has the safety pin burned by other fingers. I just forced it through cold, but if you insulate your fingers i can see the benefits of it melting the nail. Mine hurt like a bitch.

If it hasn't been mentioned, heat up a paper clip or needle/small nail and once red hot, poke it thru the nail until you hit skin and blood oozes everywhere.

When I did mine the end pretty much "blew" off and the doc sewed it back on. That ring finger there looked like a broken light bulb on the xray too.

You do the heated needle thing yet? If not you're a pussy! Shit happened to me a couple of years ago... smashed it, 2 hours later did the heated needle tap, then 2 hours after THAT rubbed one out with that hand.

I prefer the drill bit method as long as the bit is sharp, needle/paperclip works well but the burning nail stinks a bit.
