We honeymooned in Oahu and stayed in a resort in Honolulu. Above poster is correct -- we explored much more beautiful places with resorts on them outside the city. Besides places to eat there's no reason to be there. Shopping sucks (for anything I wanted).

Screw parasailing...it hurts and it's boring. If your going to do anything go Skydiving. Most exciting thing we've ever done. You get to see the whole island...amazing time.

We loved it...we'll go back I'm sure. We might try Maui next.

I took a week long cruise that went to all of the islands a couple of years ago and personally if I went back I would go to Kauai. If you want to see the most stuff on the islands look into doing the cruise on Pride of America, you don't waste time packing/unpacking and flying between islands you just wake up at a new one in the morning.

Snorkeling and the Mudbuggy tour on Kauai was probably my 2 favorite things I did. If your on Oahu then of course go to pearl harbor and punch bowl was pretty awe inspiring as well.

You want to talk about a long flight when I went we flew direct from Houston to Honolulu, next time I go will be in first class I'm not sitting in coach for that long ever again. If you have a choice take continental over AA if your going to sit in coach. We took continental and met some friends there who took AA, our flight was much better and included a meal and snack unlike AA that charged for everything. I'm sure AA is fine for first class.

I guess we will find out when we head to the Virgin Islands. lol. She was really good on the flights to Orlando and the drives to Galveston. As long as she had her books and dvd's to watch she was pretty happy. It would be better for the wife and I if she would sleep, but not much luck with that. Haha.

we just booked our flights to west maui in july. one thing ive noticed is how cheap it is to book a condo through vrbo.com versus a normal hotel. plus pick one that says ocean view! my parents go all the time but itll be my first time going. i hear nothing but good things about maui.

oh and find you a nice scrimshaw knife to take home if you like that sort of stuff
Do they have a lot of ivory or creatures with antlers in Hawaii or something?

Just remember about the large population of tiger sharks that lurk in those waters. Have fun now.

Drive the road to Hana one day (rent a convertible or Jeep you can take the top off). Eat at Mama's Fish House (It's $$$, I'd almost say overpriced, but I'll go every time I'm there. I'd kill a man for their lilikoi infused creme brule). Snorkel Molokini (I'd recommend http://www.sailtrilogy.com/molokini/discover/).
Everything he said with the possible exception of the condo. We stayed at the Hyatt Regency. Thought about the condo route but got a good deal on the hotel so we stayed there. But the Kaanapali/Mama's Fish House/Molokini with Trilogy were all bad ass. For snorkeling from the beach I like Honolua Bay and then Black Rock. There's a Costco by the airport so stop there on the way to the hotel and pick up bottled water and snacks for the week. Then splurge a little on some restaurants.

BTW, the Hyatt Regency is pretty damn nice. The pool area is definitely the best in Kaanapali. The beach is a little rocky so we just walked down to the Black Rock area.

In case you care - this is how we got a decent deal on the hotel:

You can see what other people are having to put in to win bids on certain hotels. They'll be way cheaper than the regular room rate. Only downside is once you bid your card gets charged so you better make sure you're going. We waited until 3 or 4 weeks prior to the trip before booking. Don't wait too long or you won't get it for as cheap.

How much are these mega resorts going for? The condo in Maui I'm staying at this summer is only $85 a night.

I think it's incredibly rude and inconsiderate to fly with babies. Drives me fucking nuts, and pisses me off because the large majority of parents don't care when they scream. There isnt enough booze on the plane, and my headphones dont get loud enough to drowned out some screaming ass kid. I did NOT want to take my son to Acapulco with us when we got married, and he was like 4 at the time. He ended up being a little angel, but I was nervous the whole time.

Where at? Sounds too cheap. I don't want to stay at a busted ass place 3 miles inland or on a crappy beach.
